Many of the "horse tribe" have been thinking about, longing for, speaking about another way of being with our horses. A way that side steps games of pressure and release and assuming that we must establish a domination hierarchy to effectively work with our partners.
I am happy to have discovered, while browsing in Borders, a promising book that clearly addresses another way. It is Empowered Horses: Learning Their Way Through Independence, Self-Confidence, and Creative Play by Imke Spilker. I've just barely cracked the cover and am very excited to spend time with the thoughts shared within.
On the way out the door to get Red and Lyra. Just could'nt wait to share my excitement over this new discovery. If you would like to learn more about Imke's work, there is a in depth discussion over the the Journal of Ravenseyrie Blog. Or visit Imke's intriquing web site, Communicative Horses.
